Tottenham Hotspur confirmed team XI to face Borussia Dortmund in Champions League

The Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up for the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund has been announced.

Attention now turns to the UEFA Champions League for Tottenham Hotspur tonight, more than a month on from their last clash in the competition against Slavia Prague in December, where they secured a 3-0 victory in front of their home fans.

Thomas Frank will be hoping for another win as his side remains firmly in contention for the automatic qualification places, sitting 11th and a single point outside the top eight.

However, tonight’s opponents are no pushovers, with Borussia Dortmund coming into the contest in good form after back-to-back Bundesliga wins.

The German side also remains in contention for the top eight, sitting one place above Spurs with both sides level on 11 points.

Tottenham have a shortage of experienced players available

Thomas Frank’s side is stretched, leaving the Dane with just eleven fit first-team players to select from.

James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski remain sidelined and are not in contention for tonight’s game, while Ben Davies became the latest to join the growing list of absentees after fracturing his ankle against West Ham United last weekend.

Joao Palhinha remains unavailable after missing training this week and the West Ham United clash, while Mohammed Kudus is also ruled out alongside Richarlison, who is set to miss the next seven weeks.

Mathys Tel is unavailable after being left out of the Champions League squad for a second time, with Dominic Solanke back in.

Yves Bissouma, Radu Dragusin, and Conor Gallagher cannot feature tonight since they have not been registered for Spurs’ Champions League squad.

This is the Tottenham team which takes to the field at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight:

Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Danso, Spence, Udogie; Gray, Bergvall, Simons; Odobert, Solanke.

Subs: Kinsky, Austin, Williams-Barnett, Byfield, Kolo Muani, Hall, Olusesi, Scarlett, Thompson, Akhamrich, Hardy.

Thomas Frank is a man under pressure, making this league-phase fixture absolutely crucial for the Dane as he looks to avoid defeat in front of the Tottenham faithful, many of whom have made their frustrations clear.

Frank has described recent reports suggesting Spurs are weighing up a managerial change as a media circus, insisting that he retains the support of the board.

There remains a feeling that defeat could spell the end of his time in the Tottenham dugout, with claims that Spurs already have a managerial shortlist in place.

For those wondering how to watch the match in the UK, Tottenham versus Dortmund is live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate.
