Tottenham Hotspur officially announce the return of Gareth Bale

After seven years in Spain, Gareth Bale has now officially made the return to Tottenham Hotspur, with the club announcing it on Twitter today.

The move has been rumoured all week but Spurs fans will be happy to see it written in black and white.

Tottenham have revealed that Bale has signed on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

The Welshman left North London for sunny Madrid back in 2013 after playing 203 games and scoring 55 goals in a Lilywhite shirt (Wikipedia).

During his time with Los Blancos, Gareth played 251 games, scored 105 goals, lifted four Champions League trophies, and 13 pieces of silverware in total.

Jonathan Barnett, Bale’s agent, revealed earlier this week that his client still loved Tottenham and wanted to make a return to the club this summer (BBC).

The Evening Standard reported this week that Bale earns somewhere between £450,000 and £600,000 per week, but Spurs would be paying £15m in total to take him on loan for a season, including wages and fees.

Welcome home, Gareth!
