Tottenham Hotspur Stadium one of the contenders to host major sporting event

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one of the venues that are in contention to host Anthony Joshua’s fight against Tyson Fury, according to talkSPORT.

The venue was initially earmarked to host Joshua’s world heavyweight title fight against Kubrat Pulev this month but the event had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

The IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight boxing champion was scheduled to fight Pulev at the 62,303-capacity venue on June 20 before the pandemic hit.

While the revised date for that event is yet to be finalised, it turns out that the stadium could play host to another of Joshua’s bouts – his much-awaited fight with Fury.

The report by talkSPORTuggests that Spurs’ new home is being considered to host the fight and if it turns out to be a success, it is suggested that the stadium could become a regular venue.

Apart from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Wembley, Old Trafford cricket ground, MGM Grand, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Madison Square Garden, and Diriyah Arena are all reportedly being considered to host the event.

Spurs Web Opinion

Once this pandemic is behind us, it is vitally important that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosts as many events as possible in order to help offset the loses we have uncured and pay off the remainder of the loan. However, it looks like it is going to be a while yet before we see stadiums packed with fans in the UK.
