Another Tottenham Hotspur star has suffered a serious injury ahead of what is arguably the biggest game in the Lilywhites’ recent history this Sunday.

Spurs’ Premier League status remains on the line ahead of their final league game of the season against Everton.

Tottenham need a point against the Toffees to ensure their survival, given their much superior goal difference to West Ham.

Roberto De Zerbi has said that Sunday’s game is bigger for Spurs than last year’s Europa League final, but one of his players has suffered an injury ahead of the clash at N17.

Djed Spence expected to play with a protective mask for Tottenham after suffering a broken jaw

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Djed Spence suffered a broken jaw during Spurs’ 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The full-back, who came on as a second-half substitute, picked up the injury when Liam Delap caught him on his face with his elbow, with the Chelsea striker being handed a yellow card for the foul.

However, the broken jaw may not stop Spence from featuring against Everton, with the 25-year-old expected to play with a protective face mask on Sunday.

Spence has made it clear what he thought of Liam Delap’s foul

While there has been a lot of debate over Tottenham’s late penalty shout being turned down against Chelsea, the foul on Spence was just as controversial.

The Spurs full-back reposted the clip of Delap’s foul with laughing emojis on social media, making it clear what he thought about the incident not being deemed red-card worthy.

The fact that the Tottenham defender has broken his jaw is clear evidence of the force that the Chelsea man used, with the 23-year-old being very lucky to stay on the pitch.
