Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium scoops prestigious award

Tottenham Hotspur’s new state of the art 62,062 capacity stadium has been gaining rave reviews since it opened towards the end of last season.

The stadium has not only been praised for its infrastructure and improved fan experience but has also been appreciated for the amazing atmosphere that it is capable of generating during match days, something that other modern stadiums have struggled with.

Populous, the firm that designed the stadium which cost the best part of £1 billion (The Sun), have now picked up the Project of the Year award at the 2019 UK Building Awards held on Wednesday (building-awards.com).

According to building.co.uk, the ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane and was attended by the UK’s leading construction firms.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which has successfully hosted both football as well as NFL games this year, was adjudged to be the best project construction completed in the calendar year across the United Kingdom.

Spurs Web Opinion

The stadium might have been heavily delayed but this recognition proves how difficult an undertaking it was. I believe we as Spurs fans need to be thankful to Levy for delivering what is one of the best stadiums in world football. The venue will no doubt help us evolve as a club and compete with the biggest sides in Europe.
