Tottenham identify left-footed 21-year-old as ideal back-up for Micky van de Ven

Tottenham Hotspur have their eyes on a rising Bundesliga centre-back to support Micky Van de Ven ahead of the January transfer window.

Even though Thomas Frank has Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso, Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies and Kota Takai at his disposal, it appears that he wants to further reinforce the heart of the Tottenham defence.

It has been widely reported over the last month that Spurs are working to add a centre-back to their squad in the January window.

It has now been claimed that the Lilywhites have identified a young Greek international as someone who would be a useful addition to their squad.

Tottenham want to raid Wolfsburg again for Konstantinos Koulierakis

Two and a half years on since signing Micky van de Ven, Spurs are allegedly looking to raid Wolfsburg for a young centre-back again.

According to TBR Football, Konstantinos Koulierakis’ performances in Germany have caught the eye of the Premier League side, who have been scouting him this season.

Koulierakis has developed impressively since joining the Bundesliga side from PAOK in the summer of 2024, and Tottenham particularly like the fact that he is a left-sided centre-back.

Frank’s men want to sign a left-footed centre-back to cover for Van de Ven, and they believe that the 21-year-old could be the right fit.

Spurs could face competition from Premier League rivals for Konstantinos Koulierakis

TBR Football add that Tottenham Hotspur are not the only club eyeing Koulierakis, with Liverpool and other European clubs also in contention to land the Greek international.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has suggested that the Wolfsburg man is unlikely to come cheap, given the interest he is generating around the continent.

Bailey told TBR: “Koulierakis is attracting a lot of attention across Europe, composed and left-sided – left-footed defenders do tend to carry a bit more of a premium and he is standing out at the moment.”
