Tottenham in deadline day transfer battle with Arsenal for Scotland’s youngest-ever player

A transfer battle is emerging between Tottenham and their North London rivals in the final hours of the January transfer window.

Conor Gallagher and Souza have been the only two players to arrive through the door at Spurs in January.

However, the Lilywhites have bolstered their academy with the signing of Elisha Sowunmi from West Ham, with the 18-year-old netting 16 goals and five assists in all competitions for the Hammers’ U18 last season.

It has now emerged that Spurs have set their sights on another young forward, who has turned a lot of heads in Scotland.

Tottenham battle Arsenal for 18-year-old striker James Wilson

Sky Sports initially reported that Arsenal are holding talks with Hearts over a loan deal for striker James Wilson.

The teenager, who has 18 months left on his contract with the Scottish Premiership side, has already made his senior debut for Scotland, becoming the youngest ever player to represent the country.

Now, journalist Michael Bridge has revealed that Tottenham have also expressed interest in landing Wilson on an initial loan deal with an option to buy in the summer.

Bridge reveals that if Spurs are successful in signing the Hearts starlet, he would go into the club’s U21 set-up rather than their first-team.

Are Spurs going to make anymore first-team additions before the window closes?

Reports indicate that Tottenham are still exploring potential options to strengthen their attack before the 7 pm transfer deadline.

That is according to Miguel Delaney, who named Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, former Aston Villa duo, Moussa Diaby and Jhon Duran, as options being considered by Spurs.

However, with just hours left until the window slams shut, the Lilywhites may struggle to get any deal over the line, and Thomas Frank may have to make do with his current options until the end of the season.
