Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly emerged as ‘serious contenders’ to beat Barcelona for the services of a former Manchester City star, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Could Spurs go after another Bayern Munich attacker?
Spurs strengthened their forward line with the loan signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich in January, and it remains to be seen if the 19-year-old becomes a permanent Tottenham player in the summer.
Over recent days, some reports have claimed that the North London club have also set their sights on another Bayern winger, who has torn apart many defences over the years with his electric pace.
Leroy Sane’s contract at the Allianz Arena runs out in the summer and it has been claimed by some sources that Tottenham have already reached out to the player to speak about a potential free transfer to N17.

Tottenham are now serious contenders to land Leroy Sane
According to a new report in CaughtOffside, Tottenham’s pursuit of Sane has been boosted by recent developments, with the Premier League side now looking to pull off a sensational deal for the former Man City man.
The outlet claims that Bayern have ‘all but given up’ hopes of tying Sane to a new deal and are resigned to losing him on a free transfer.
Barcelona have shown interest in signing the 29-year-old, but the Catalan club’s current financial situation means that they are unable to commit too many resources to strengthen their attack, given the options they already have at their disposal.
This has put Spurs ‘in a strong position’ to land Sane, especially after their ‘recent contacts’ with the Germany international.

Would Leroy Sane come to Tottenham?
While Sane might no longer be a regular in Bayern’s starting eleven, he remains a fearsome attacking weapon and will attract interest from several elite clubs across Europe, especially given his free agency.
Tottenham have the resources to sign players of that level, but the issue they might face in convincing those kinds of players that they can win trophies at N17.
Sane is also not a particularly good fit in terms of the age profile Spurs have gone for under the new regime, but one can argue that this Tottenham squad does need one or two more experienced heads, especially those who won many trophies like the German.
