Tottenham Hotspur are holding talks with an experienced Premier League defender regarding a free transfer to N17 in the summer.

Spurs’ backline may look very different next season, with reports indicating that Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could both be on their way out of Tottenham.

Roberto De Zerbi may thus be in a position of needing two new centre-backs in the summer, although some may believe that Luka Vuskovic is ready for a first-team role at Spurs.

It has now been revealed that the Lilywhites have already begun efforts to secure the services of a South American centre-back.

Over recent weeks, a number of reports have suggested that Spurs are keen on landing Marcos Senesi, whose contract at the Vitality Stadium runs out this summer.

Journalist Mark Brus has now revealed on CaughtOffside that Tottenham are currently in talks with the Argentine’s representatives regarding a free transfer.

He claims that Spurs are eyeing a deal for Senesi due to the doubts over Cristian Romero’s future, but they are not the only ones to have spoken to the player’s entourage.

Chelsea and Liverpool have also touched base with the Bournemouth defender’s representatives ahead of the summer, while Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are also fans of the former Feyenoord man.

Where is Senesi likely to end up this summer?

Brus reveals that one of his sources is confident the centre-back is likely to end up in Spain this summer, despite growing interest from Premier League clubs.

However, the journalist claims to have heard from another well-placed source that Chelsea may be the ones to watch out for in the race for Senesi.

Brus adds that the Argentine international could have high wage demands since this would be the last big contract of his career, but playing time will also be a factor in his final decision.
