Tottenham in three-horse race to sign six-time title-winning midfielder for free

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for a highly decorated German midfielder whose future lies away from his current club.

Spurs have added Conor Gallagher to their squad this month, and some reports suggest that another midfielder could potentially arrive at N17 before the window slams shut.

Tottenham are allegedly continuing to show interest in Curtis Jones, who has struggled for game time at Liverpool this season.

However, it has now emerged that the Lilywhites are also plotting to add another big-name midfielder to their squad at the end of the season.

Tottenham want to sign Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka

Spurs signed Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich last summer, and it has now been revealed that the North Londoners want to raid the Bavarian club for another midfielder at the end of the current season.

This is according to journalist Christian Falk, who reports on FC Bayern Insider that ‘Tottenham are still on the table’ for Leon Goretzka.

Goretzka is not expected to be offered a new contract by Bayern, and he is thus set to leave the Allianz Arena on a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, Spurs face competition from Serie A giants, Juventus and AC Milan, for the 30-year-old.

Goretzka has been a long-term target for Spurs

This is not the first time the German international has been linked with a switch to the North London club.

Goretzka was first mooted as a target for Tottenham two years ago, which suggests that he has been on the Premier League club’s radar for a while.

It was even reported last month by journalist Dean Jones that Thomas Frank is a fan of Goretzka and that the midfielder is keen to test himself in English football.
