Roberto De Zerbi has now provided an injury update on his Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of their Premier League encounter with Leeds United.

Attention now turns to the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United on Monday night, as Spurs continue their fight to remain in the Premier League.

A few weeks ago, this encounter would have been dubbed a relegation six-pointer, but as it stands, Daniel Farke’s men have played themselves out of immediate danger by securing vital wins in their last four league games.

While Leeds are mathematically still in the relegation fight, there is no denying that Spurs and West Ham United are the two sides who are most of risk of losing their Premier League status.

Tottenham simply need a win over Daniel Farke’s men if they are to boost their survival hopes, while West Ham face Arsenal on Sunday.

Tottenham’s injury issues have dominated their season

Coming into this home encounter at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Roberto De Zerbi will be hoping he is not dealt any further injury blows.

Ahead of the 2-1 win over Aston Villa, the Italian lost both Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons to season-ending injuries, but showed his tactical acumen in how he set his side up to deal with their absences.

However, while those two were unavailable, Spurs also welcomed back Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr, who returned to the Tottenham squad.

That now leaves Spurs with eight players sidelined, with Ben Davies, Dejan Kulusevski, Xavi Simons, Dominic Solanke, Mohammed Kudus, Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert and Guglielmo Vicario all unavailable. James Maddison could once again be named on the bench, but is unlikely to feature.

The head coach told Football.London when asked about Maddison and Solanke: “I am thinking about James Maddison because I am watching a top, top player.

“Maybe he is not ready yet to play not as a physical condition, but for the rhythm or intensity of the game, you are playing in Premier League, most difficult league in the world for rhythm and intensity.

“About Solanke, he is improving very quickly. I don’t know if for this game.”

Vicario is still sidelined as he continues to recover from hernia surgery, and De Zerbi has now provided an update on the Italian shot-stopper.

He added: “No Vicario is not ready yet. I don’t know what will be the plan. He’s suffering because he would like to help the team and his team-mates. But he’s not available yet.”
