Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign a Bundesliga star, who could be the subject of a huge bidding war in the summer.

According to some reports, there is panic at Tottenham over the possibility of losing both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven this summer.

Meanwhile, Luka Vuskovic is also attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe on the back of his outstanding performances for Hamburg so far this season.

Spurs may thus need to put contingency plans in place at centre-back, and they have now allegedly turned to a 27-year-old defender.

Tottenham are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba

According to Africa Foot, Spurs are one of the clubs involved in the race to sign Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

The report claims that Napoli and Newcastle already expressed their interest in the defender a few months ago, while Tottenham are now monitoring the situation.

It is asserted that Leverkusen have already received ‘several offers’ for Tapsoba, who could take ‘the next step in his career’ next summer.

Additionally, Real Madrid see him as a ‘complete and decisive defender’ and have been impressed with his consistency in the Bundesliga.

How much would Spurs have to pay for Tapsoba?

Africa Foot point out that the Burkina Faso international has just two years left on his deal, thus sparking rumours of an exit from Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga club are remaining firm and keen to keep Tapsoba at the club despite the growing interest in his services.

It is asserted that interested clubs would have to pay at least €40m (£35m) to get the centre-back out of Bay Arena this summer.
