Highly-rated teenage duo expected to reach the top

Bailey and Anton Palmer are just 16 years of age and while they are yet to make their senior bows for Boro, they have been named on the bench by boss Michael Carrick this season.

According to a report in TBR Football, the two midfielders are seen as first-team prospects at the Riverside Stadium, having both been named in the England Under-17 squads recently.

In fact, the outlet asserts that many who work in the game consider the duo to be among the most exciting players in their age group across the country, which is why they are now attracting interest from the Premier League.

Tottenham facing big transfer battle for teenagers

The outlet claims that Spurs are ‘very keen’ on persuading the twins to both swap the Boro academy for Hotspur Way in the summer.

However, they are not the only ones who are interested in a move for the midfield pair, with several top-flight sides said to be ‘keeping a close eye’ on how they are doing in youth football.

It is alleged that Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brighton are all on the trail of Bailey and Anton Palmer, with the race for their services already heating up ahead of the summer.

Why Tottenham may have an advantage over other suitors

When it comes to competing for the best young teenage talent, Tottenham may have a big advantage over many other clubs in the Premier League and around Europe.

Ange Postecoglou has demonstrated that he is not scared of handing opportunities to young players and that there is a clear pathway to the first team for the academy players at Spurs.

Many youngsters would thus feel that their chances of getting opportunities at Tottenham are higher than at the likes of Chelsea.
