Gary Neville has said that Tottenham Hotspur have set the benchmark when it comes to their stadium, urging Manchester United to be inspired by what the North London club have done.

Five years on from its completion, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium remains the envy of the Premier League, with almost no sporting arena in the UK being able to match it when it comes to fan experience or aesthetic beauty.
Unlike some of the other new grounds around the Premier League, what Spurs have managed to do relatively successfully is to create an atmospheric venue, not too dissimilar to the old White Hart Lane, rather than building a soulless concrete bowl.
Additionally, the move to the new venue has also enabled Tottenham to substantially increase their matchday revenue, thus putting the club in much better shape to be able to compete with the biggest sides in Europe.

Tottenham have set the benchmark for stadiums in football
Many clubs across the Premier League are now also looking to develop their stadiums with Man Utd being one of those, and Neville feels that the Red Devils should try to match what Tottenham have done.
The pundit told Manchester United’s official website: “What I am absolutely certain of is that we need to have a stadium that is up there with some of the other great stadiums in Europe and in this country, at this moment in time.
“Tottenham is the benchmark. It’s a stunning stadium, brand new, and we need to get to that level. Man United is a club that has to be inspired and motivated by its history, but be a modern club that moves forward and that means from a people perspective, and it means from a place perspective.”

The experience of moving stadiums was quite painful for the club and the fans as it meant that we played in Wembley for almost two full years while also restricting the club’s ability to spend in the transfer market for many years. However, that pain was certainly worth it and we are now reaping the benefits.
