Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on an in-form Premier League defender, but a summer deal will be hard to complete.
Spurs are expected to undertake a substantial squad rebuild this summer if they do manage to maintain their Premier League status.
The North Londoners are thought to have already identified targets to bolster their backline, which has been found wanting across this season.
A Brentford youngster has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent months, but they are not the only side eyeing the player.

Tottenham battling three other Premier League clubs for Michael Kayode
Michael Kayode’s agent has already hinted at the possibility of a summer transfer, but it has now been revealed that Tottenham will have to see off competition from several Premier League clubs to land the right-back.
This is according to a report in La Stampa, which says that while Spurs are monitoring the Brentford star’s situation, so are their rivals.
The report says that Kayode’s rapid rise at the Gtech Community Stadium has also put Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City on alert ahead of the summer.
All four clubs are following the full-back with interest, while Borussia Dortmund are also watching the developments around the 21-year-old’s future closely.
Why Kayode’s value could shoot up over the coming months
It was previously reported that Brentford would demand at least £35m for Kayode this summer.
However, this latest update by La Stampa reveals that Kayode is expected to be called up to the Italian national squad and could even be on a plane to North America for the World Cup this summer if the Azzuri qualify for the tournament.
Should the full-back impress in the biggest tournament in the world, his valuation could shoot up even further.
