Despite having a poor start to the season, Tottenham Hotspur have jumped several places in Opta’s Global Power Rankings.
Much to the frustration of Spurs fans, the Lilywhites played out another 0-0 draw against Everton on Saturday, which means that they have now gone six hours of Premier League football without a goal.
While Roberto De Zerbi remains upbeat despite the poor start and is confident things will turn around, the Italian is now coming under huge pressure.
While there is no indication that De Zerbi’s future is under any threat, the 46-year-old knows that he will have to deliver, having been backed with many of his top targets in the summer.

Tottenham rise to 24th place in Opta’s Global Power Rankings
Opta uses a series of metrics to rank all clubs in world football in their Opta Global Power Rankings, and curiously, the Lilywhites have actually climbed a few places since the start of the season.
Before the start of the campaign, Spurs were ranked the 30th-best team in the world, but the numbers have since been updated.
As per Opta’s metrics, De Zerbi’s men are now the 24th-best team in world club football, with a rating of 90.8. They have dropped one place following their draw against Everton.
Among Premier League clubs, the data analysis website says that the Lilywhites are the 12th-best team, with Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, Hull City, Fulham and Coventry City behind them.

Why Spurs’ rise makes sense
Tottenham’s rise in this ranking is likely less to do with the results they have had this season, and more to do with the signings they have made over the summer.
There is no doubt that Spurs have added plenty of quality to their squad, but it does appear that they may need more time to gel as a team.
De Zerbi has suggested that the players are still not in top physical condition, which is why they are unable to sustain the required intensity over 90 minutes.
One would hope that things will start to click for the Lilywhites as the campaign gathers steam.
