Report: Tottenham keen on young right-back to replace Trippier – and it isn’t Wan-Bissaka

Tottenham Hotspur may be in the market for a new right-back this summer, after the position caused somewhat of a headache for Mauricio Pochettino last season.

Kieran Trippier failed to replicate anything close to his World Cup 2018 form, as he struggled with injuries and failed to defend consistently.

Serge Aurier was also defensively naive at times and spent large parts of the season on the sidelines with his own injuries.

Kyle Walker-Peters, while promising, does not look like the full package yet, as he showed nerves against Barcelona when his mistake cost Tottenham in the first ten minutes.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Sun), but with Man United having two bids turned down for the star, a Tottenham move now looks unlikely (Metro).

However, Football London have claimed that if Kieran Trippier leaves Tottenham this summer (Times), then Spurs will inquire about Norwich City’s Max Aarons.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I am still of the opinion that Tottenham should shell out £60m for Aaron Wan-Bissaka before someone else does, however, this doesn’t look likely. If this move doesn’t happen, I would be more than happy with Max Aarons as the second choice. I have heard plenty of good things about him, and it’s about time we had some pace down that right side again.
