Tottenham launch £26m bid to sign Mohammed Kudus’ former West Ham teammate

West Ham are fighting relegation in the Premier League and need all the help they can get, but Tottenham Hotspur are eager to take another player off the hands of their London rivals.

Tottenham are set to complete their first January signing by bringing talented left-back Souza to the club after his impressive displays for Santos.

However, there is now a gaping hole in a different position as players continue to remain unavailable due to injuries and other circumstances.

Spurs have very few midfield options at this moment, with Pape Matar Sarr still at AFCON, while both Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall are now injured.

Tottenham have made a surprising offer for Lucas Paqueta

It would be a shock for Spurs to sign a second West Ham player in the space of a few months, but one of Nuno Santo’s star players could be the solution to Tottenham’s midfield crisis.

Torcido Flamenogo, as relayed by Give Me Sport, report that Tottenham have launched a £26m bid to sign Lucas Paqueta.

Flamengo are also in talks to sign the midfielder and the player himself would reportedly favour a move back to his boyhood club. However, Paqueta could be convinced to make the move to Spurs if the offer is attractive enough.

Paqueta does not have much time remaining on his West Ham contract

The good news for Tottenham is that Paqueta’s current contract expires in 2027, meaning he only has one and a half years where he is bound to West Ham.

In order to gather a reasonable transfer fee, the Hammers could look to sell the player imminently, and this gives Spurs an advantage. However, it will take a special offer to convince him to stay in London rather than returning to his home country.
