Tottenham learn of Carabao Cup semi final opponents

Tottenham Hotspur will face Chelsea in the semi final of the Carabao Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side booked their place in the next round of the competition following an impressive 2-0 win against North London rivals Arsenal.

Ironically, the draw was made partly by Piers Morgan who is known to be an outspoken Arsenal fan on Twitter for his hatred of Spurs and was assisted by our former forward Peter Crouch.

In the other draw, Manchester City will play Burton Albion.

Heung-min Son gave Spurs the lead after 20 minutes when a beautiful ball from Dele Alli found the South Korean and he made no mistake with his finish.

Dele then moved from creator to finisher for the second when he took Harry Kane’s pass in one touch and used his second touch to lob the ball over Petr Cech.

The result certainly gives Tottenham the bragging rights in North London, the Emirates was resembling a ghost town after 80-odd minutes when their supporters had decided that they had seen enough.

The semi-finals are played over two legs and will take place during week commencing Monday 7 and Monday 21 January 2019
