Tottenham learn of FA Cup third round opponents

Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn away to lower league opposition in the form of Tranmere Rovers or Southport in the third round of the FA Cup after the draw was made moments ago live on BBC 1.

The tie is scheduled to take place between January 4th and 7th, the actual date will be confirmed once matches have been selected for television coverage.

Tranmere are currently eighth in League Two, while Southport are nineteenth in the National League North.

Last season, Mauricio Pochettino’s side made it to the semi-final of the competition before disappointingly losing 2-1 to Manchester United at Wembley.

Tottenham had taken the lead in the match courtesy of Dele Alli, but goals from Ander Herrera and Alexis Sanchez ensured that Tottenham’s wait for FA Cup glory had to wait for another year.

We last won the competition in 1991 after beating Nottingham Forest 2-1 in the final and are well overdue adding another trophy to our cabinet.
