The EFL have confirmed that Paul Tierney will take charge of the all-important Carabao Cup final between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on April 25.
The final has taken up a lot more meaning for Spurs after their results over the last few weeks. The defeat against Manchester United on Sunday saw them drop to seventh place, six points behind fourth-placed West Ham.
The season has been one to forget for the North Londoners but the Carabao Cup final offers an opportunity for Jose Mourinho’s men to salvage some pride by ending the club’s 13-year trophy drought.
However, the Lilywhites face a monumental task given the form City have been in over the last few months.
The EFL have now confirmed that the experienced Tierney will take charge of the match, supported by his assistants, Lee Betts and Constantine Haztidakis.
Peter Bankes has been installed as the fourth official while Andre Marriner will take the VAR duties for the Wembley showpiece.
