Tottenham legend reacts to rumours that Arsenal are keen on signing his nephew

Tottenham Hotspur have had a number of amazing central defenders over the last decade, from Toby Alderweireld to Ledley King.

However, one who I believe went relative underappreciated was Michael Dawson, who played alongside the likes of King and Jonathan Woodgate.

Dawson played an incredible 11 seasons at White Hart Lane, racking up 324 appearances in a Lilywhite shirt and scoring 10 goals in the process (Wikipedia).

The name Dawson will long be associated with the Lilywhite side of North London, but could Arsenal be getting their hands on the next generation?

The Sun reported this month that the Gunners are keen on signing Scunthorpe teenage midfielder, Joey Dawson, who happens to be the nephew of Spurs legend Michael.

Joey recently became the youngest ever debutant in Scunthorpe’s history. However, uncle Michael definitely had something to say about the rumours when he took to Alan Brazil’s show on TalkSPORT this week.

You tell him, Daws!

The former Spurs defender said (TalkSPORT 15/10/19 at 9 am): “I saw that the other day and I said ‘you’re signing for the wrong side here’!

“He’s done great. He’s some size, he’s good on the ball. He has to keep his head down and keep working and you never know…”
