Tottenham legend sends Harry Kane warning to Man City after 1-0 win

Graham Roberts has insisted that Manchester City need to pay £200m if they wish to sign Harry Kane this summer after Tottenham beat Pep Guardiola’s men 1-0 on Sunday.

The entire build-up to Tottenham’s season opener was dominated by the speculation over Kane’s proposed move to City.

The striker was not named in the matchday squad by Nuno Espirito Santo, who chose to stick to the same eleven that started the pre-season friendly against Arsenal last week.

Nuno’s men certainly demonstrated with their performance that there is life after Kane as they put in a spirited display and looked extremely threatening on the counter-attack.

It remains to be seen whether the England captain will still be at Spurs at the end of the month when the transfer window shuts.

While some sources have suggested City remain confident of getting their man before the window closes, others have claimed the striker is increasingly accepting of the fact that he is not leaving North London this summer.

Roberts believes the Premier League champions now need to cough up twice the amount they paid for Jack Grealish if they wish to sign Kane.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would imagine that Levy might well look to take advantage of City’s desperation and bump up the price after their loss yesterday.

If Kane is to depart Spurs this summer, we should see some major movements from the Lilywhites in the transfer market over the next few days to bring in suitable replacements.
