Tottenham legend set to become TV pundit after being released by club

The Sun have revealed that Tottenham legend Jermain Defoe is set to become a TV pundit after parting ways with Rangers this week.

Defoe was one of the best goalscorers Tottenham have had during the Premier League era and is regarded by some to be one of the most natural finishers England has produced over recent decades.

The striker had two spells at Tottenham, being part of the club’s rise under Martin Jol in his initial spell at White Hart Lane.

After being sold to Portsmouth when Juande Ramos was in charge in 2008, he returned just 12 months later, following Harry Redknapp from Fratton Park to Spurs.

The striker scored 90 goals across his two spells at the club, helping the Lilywhites qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history in 2010.

The 39-year-old’s time at Ibrox has now come to an end after two and half years, with Rangers confirming the striker’s departure on Wednesday and thanking him for his services.

Defoe has already made a couple of appearances as a pundit for Sky this season and The Sun have now claimed that the former Tottenham man will now focus on his becoming a full-time TV pundit.

Spurs Web Opinion

There are not too many former Spurs pundits working for Sky. Even those that do (like Redknapp) seem to have an anti-Spurs agenda. So, it will be great to have Defoe as a pundit as the 39-year-old is Tottenham through and through.
