Tottenham legend takes to Twitter to mock Arsenal’s embarassing Europa League exit

Spurs fans would have been delighted to see Olympiacos knock Arsenal out of the Europa League on Thursday, acting as a major blow to their chances of returning to the Champions League next season.

The Gunners had a 1-0 advantage going into the home leg and were huge favourites to progress. However, Pape Abou Cisse gave the visitors a shock lead and they defended resolutely for the ninety minutes to force extra time.

When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck with seven minutes of extra-time remaining, the Emirates faithful thought they had done enough to get into the next round.

However, just one minute from time, Youssef El-Arabi’s late winner left them completely shell shocked and knocked them out of the competition.

Spurs fans would take even more joy from the fact that it was the Lilywhites who knocked Olympiacos out of the Champions League with a 4-2 win over them earlier in the season.

Tottenham legend Micky Hazard didn’t miss the opportunity to rub it in against his old enemy.

Spurs Web Opinion

While seeing Arsenal fans heartbroken is always satisfying, I don’t think this was a particularly good result for us. This means that Mikel Arteta’s side can now afford to focus on the Premier League and the FA Cup rather than worrying about playing on Thursdays. However, I still don’t think they are good enough to finish top four.
