Tottenham legend thinks Lloris will be ‘fed up’ with the defenders in front of him

Graham Roberts has claimed that Hugo Lloris will be fed up with the defence in front of him at Tottenham.

Spurs, who had one of the best defences in the Premier League not so long ago, have been leaky at the back in the last few campaigns.

After 11 league games this season, Spurs have conceded 16 goals, which is the second-highest tally in the top half of the table, and one less than Manchester United.

It is an area that manager Antonio Conte will want to improve upon after the Italian was appointed as the club’s new head coach.

He has come into the club and immediately switched the defence to a back three with Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies all deployed in the trio.

However, former Spurs defender Roberts believes club captain Lloris will be less than impressed with the defensive line ahead of him, citing the performance in the 3-0 defeat against United earlier this month as a source of frustration for the Frenchman.

Speaking to This Is Futbol, Roberts said: “I would think Lloris is fed up with who is playing in front of him. I mean [David] De Gea never had to even move. Why don’t we get that? He’s always having to make a world-class save or pick the ball up out the back of the net.”

Lloris has got Spurs out of trouble more often than not, usually because the defence hasn’t been up to scratch. With Conte known for his defensive stability in his teams, hopefully, he can transform the club over the next few games.
