Tottenham-linked midfielder has now scored 7 goals in last 11 matches

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Jonas Hofmann has been on fire in front of goal for Borussia Monchengladbach over recent weeks.

Hofmann has been a consistent performer for Gladbach over the last few years. The versatile midfielder, who is capable of playing on either flank or in a central role, was first linked with a move to Tottenham during the summer of 2020.

The speculation linking Spurs with a move for the 29-year-old reemerged during this summer’s transfer window but he once again ended up staying put at Borussia Park.

Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eber even admitted at the time that the club would not be able to refuse a sizeable offer for Hofmann.

The German international, whose current contract expires in the summer of 2023, was reportedly valued at around €15m (£12.8m) during the summer.

However, Hofmann’s price is likely to have increased on the back of his brilliant run of form over the last two months.

The Gladbach star scored his seventh goal in just 11 Bundesliga starts in the 4-1 derby defeat to Koln on Saturday, the most prolific run of his entire career.

So perhaps Spurs may be ruing not pushing the boat out to sign Hofmann in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite Hoffmann’s impressive form this season, his price is unlikely to have gone up considerably owing to his contract situation. If the 29-year-old does not put pen to paper on a new deal with Gladbach, Spurs could well be tempted to make an offer in January or next summer.
