Tottenham linked with a move for Paul Robinson

Sky Sports are reporting that Tottenham are looking to bring Paul Robinson back to the club.

Robinson left White Hart Lane for Blackburn Rovers in summer 2008 after suffering a dip in form and losing his place to Heurelho Gomes.

According to the report, Harry Redknapp is still unconvinced if Gomes is Tottenham’s long-term solution between the sticks and the resurgence of 31-year-old Robinson has given him something to think about.

Blackburn are keen to hold onto Robinson and are planning on offering him a new deal to remain at Ewood Park.

  1. One whiff of a rumour and the whole of newsnow lights up with all and sundry claiming ITK or i have a cousin who knows the boot boy who knows the tea lady.

One day I might read something here that is actually true.

  2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

For some unGodly reason some pundits have got it into their thick heads that this guy is a good keeper and back where he was.

The reality is he had one good season at spurs and was nothing close to horrendous after that. He can’t move his feet quick enough to stop long shots, a problem he still hugely suffers from.

He also is also a vampire on crosses, shit scared of them and rarely comes for them. Which by the way is WAY worse than a keeper that comes for them a lot and punches or claims and fumbles the odd one.

So in other words Gomes is infinitely better on shots, equal in one on ones, and better on crosses (which few notice).

His distribution is also much better since he has a great throw to accurately launch counter attacks, unlike Robbo who loves kicking it quickly and very rarely hits his man. He’s also way to fond of lumping it when he could pass it out.

Gomes is a very good keeper with clean sheet records at Tottenham and Dutch football. It’s no coincidence. It would be absolute madness to bring back Robinson. But Harry does think Defoe is brilliant and that Crouchie ‘does a great job’ so don’t rule it out, even though this overlove for his english pair has held us back from doing even better!

Even a past his best keane is a lot better, as is a hit and miss Pav. Buy a striker FFS, not a keeper, and not some brainless one dimensional football illiterate English forward like you seem to love!

    • could not agree with you more jimo, glad to see a fella spurs fan talking sense . sorting out our strikers is a must, Harry is fixated with crouch and defoe who are quite frankly rubbish, especially crouch

  4. Maybe this would be OK, Gomes sn’t convincing – but wth only a few days of transfer wndow left, and the inability to beat Man U, at home, agaisnt 10 men showing up the squad, then it’s not goalkeepers but goalscorers that should be top of the list – Crouch HAS TO GO, I know he has assists for RVDV, but one premiershp goal all season – it stinks, and sucks, it’s idiotic to keep him. Pav just doesn’t deliver – despite a genius level goal against West London Spartak [which showed how good he can be]. Bring back Sheringham, he could outscore those two, even now. And, much as he’s a thug, Van Bommel to capture the ball.

  5. No please not. Gomes is by miles the better keeper both make mistakes but at least Gomes commands the box where as Robbo is always rooted to the line
