Tottenham-linked star admits he wants to play in the Premier League

A report from Dalmatinski Portal quotes VFB Stuttgart and Croatia defender Borna Sosa as being keen on a move to the Premier League, amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Sosa has been with Stuttgart since the summer of 2018 and has racked up 102 appearances for the German side, scoring five goals and registering 32 assists along the way (Transfermarkt).

The left-back has 14 caps for Croatia to his name (Transfermarkt), and was heavily involved as his country made it to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Spurs were linked with Sosa earlier this month (SportBILD as relayed by Sport Witness) and it is thought the North London club could make a move for the 25-year-old in the summer.

That report added that the player was ‘on the verge’ of leaving the Bundesliga as he looks for his ‘next step’ in the Premier League.

Now, the latest report from Croatia corroborates this idea, with Sosa himself being quoted as having ambitions of playing in the Premier League.

He said: “This summer could be the time for a new breakthrough.

“I hope to stay healthy until the end of the season. And I hope to be able to come to an agreement with the club.

“Personally, I would like to experience the Premier League once. It is the best league in the world.”

It is believed Sosa is valued at around £22 million, but a reduced fee could be accepted due to Stuttgart’s financial situation (Sky Germany).

Spurs Web Opinion

Sosa has an incredible number of assists over the last three seasons, and it’s exciting to think what he could do for our attackers with those kinds of returns.

Our left side is a bit of a weakness, and though we have Destiny Udogie to come in, it would be nice to have two top talents fighting for the same spot.
