Tottenham-linked winger insists he has no regrets over La Liga switch

Malcom has revealed that he has no regrets over deciding to sign for Barcelona in the summer of 2018.

The 23-year-old shot to fame with his impressive performances for Bordeaux and was regarded as one of the brightest up and coming talents in world football (iNews).

Tottenham were reported to be one of the leading contenders for his signature back in the (Telegraph) but the winger ended up moving to Barcelona after snubbing Roma at the last minute.

However, he failed to make much of impact in the one season that he spent at the Camp Nou (transfermarkt).

Tottenham were once again linked with a move for the pacey wide man last summer (Sport) but he ended up completing a move to Zenit St. Petersburg.

Swapping La Liga for the Russian top flight has left the Brazilian insisting that he has no regrets about joining Barcelona.

He told Instagram Live, as reported by AS: “At Barca, I fulfilled the dream of playing with the best. And the feeling that remained was that I learned a lot. Some things I did not know how to fix off the field and on the field, today I cannot fix them.

“And that will stay in my head. Thinking about it now, I think I deserved more minutes, but Barça gave me an apprenticeship.”

In hindsight, we must count our lucky stars that the move to North London did not work out as his performances over the last two seasons indicate that he would not have been a massive success in the Premier League.

As we have observed with the likes of Pepe at Arsenal, the Premier League is a completely different proposition for skilful wingers compared to the Ligue 1 as the defenders are much quicker and stronger in England.
