Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be keeping tabs on Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea player played under Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth before he joined the Spanish giants.

Diarra is said to have fallen out with coach Manuel Pellegrini, who would want to find a replacement before allowing the 25-year-old, who is valued at £17million to leave the Santiago Bernabéu.

Redknapp has already added to his midfield by bringing in Sandro, but there is speculation that Jermaine Jenas could be leaving White Hart Lane during the summer.

  1. With Sandro and Palacios in the squad along with the return of O' Hara, this deal doesn't seem to have any traction. Spurs also have been linked to German Thomas Hitzlperger on a free, another who would fill that role. Spending £17m doesn't make sense. Where do these stories come from? Let's be sensible here, Pellegrini will be gone this summer, other than La Liga they have struggled this season. And with the money they spent alot more is expected.

  2. Yes please, to Jenas going – he has been there far too long. Who comes in I don't care, but already we seem to be linked with most players in Europe! Diarra will do, dont care he played for Arsenal – if he does a job and Harry knows him it will probably be a good signing.

  3. The signing would be feasible if Spurs hold onto fourth. Champions League makes all the diffference. Would be a top midfiled with Hudd, Sandro, Palocias and Diarra competeing for places. Get rid of jenas and the only question is wear does O'Hara fit in.

  4. Jenas for Diarra, definitely. Unfortunately, as the team improves, it will become apparent that Wilson's skills are lacking.

  5. 17 million, to much as we will have enough cover already, and you muppets going on about palacios, what football do you watch.

  6. Diarra passed the ball better than palacios in the prem and is stronger at reading the game. but he doesnt break up play as well. if palacios keeps his game simple and gives it to modric, kranjcar etc then he will be just as effective for a fraction of the cost and wages of diarra.
jenas needs a fresh start elsewhere which will free up money. keep o'hara as cover on left side. (i wish we had got petrov! imagine him and bale…)

  7. with sandro and palacios we don't need another defensive minded midfielder, keep hudd, get rid of jenas and o'hara, and bring in another more offensive minded cm…van der vaart would do nicely, and since he isn't seeing much playing time at real madrid, if we make champs lge it might be quite possible.

  8. A welcome addition but would he be happy not playing regularly next year especially in Champions League games(hope spurs make it!)- we will have a plethora of mid-field players- the only ONE desperate to get rid of is JJ…..his time is up. I just hope we can keep some of our players Bale, Modric, O'hara…because if good money comes for these I can see club looking to sell- especially Pav, Bentley, Modric, O'hara….the one we can't lose is Bale- he must stay.

  9. Sandro may take some time to adjust to the Prem, whilst Diarra already has the experience. Let's get him in to replace JJ. We will need a big squad next year, with fixture pile-ups and injuries, and he will give us some great options. Plus I think he will relish the idea of showing Arsenal and Chelsea what they missed out on.

  10. He is top draw. If we do get him our midfield would be as strong as any in the premiership,as long as we dont sell modric to get him

  11. assuming we qualify for the champions league (the final whistle of the man city game could possibly reveal all) diarra would be a welcome addition. there are/were a few expendables at the club but most of them have shown in recent weeks they can certainly add something to the squad. (bale, pav, bentley)

sell keane and penas and replace directly with better players (simple on paper). i think we would benefit from keeping this squad together atm, unless of course levy wants to take us a a shopping spree!

  12. you guys need to open your eyes, for a dmc wilson can pass a ball and has played some great through balls this season, just off the top of my head I remember one in the wigan game at home that was a dream of a pass, took out 2 defenders and put defoe clean through, then played a similiar ball to modric against Fulham the other night.

Get in the real world, do I think diarra better than wilson, not a chance.

  13. Palacios has simply shown us what we have lacked for 20+ years. He is not good enough in his passing and he is a little Zokorish in his tackles(although miles better a an overall player). We need three DCMS as Harry will always be using two in away games and injuries can occur. I think that Diarra is better than Palacios while Sandro could become better than both. If we do have CL ambitions this is a very sensible buy.
For home matches we have the creative Huddlestone but he is a little fragile and we will need a replacement for him at times. This could be Modric but he does seem better with the freedom of the LW or perhaps we may keep O'Hara but I doubt that Jamie will put up with second fiddle. So, we probably need another backup to Huddlestone as well as Diarra and in that case i see no room for Jenas unless he suddenly and at last, fulfills all that long hinted at potentia.
So summer signings: Diarra, Sandro, Gudjohnnsen, that Croatian GK plus ? one other. Losses= Hutton, ?O'Hara ? Jenas and yes, I would definitely keep Bentley who has finally shown character. We are still potentiall light in the CD & LB areas but Naughton does agood job at LB and we can hope that one of King/Woodgate stays fit…..Witht he above we will have adamn good CL squad assuming that we beat the odds and get there.

  14. I dont think we well pay that kind of money for Diarra, its way to much for us. It will be more games to play next season we will need more players!

  15. he hasn't fallen out with Pellegrini or anything like that. He's just injured and thats all. Don't get your hopes up Spurs.

  16. WISON MOST OF THE TIME IS VASTLY OVERRATED BY OUR FAITHFUL SPURS SUPPORTERS IE HIS PASSING IS TERRIABLE , HE IS A COLLECTOR OF YELLOW CARDS , HIS SHOOTING DON`T EXIST , AND HE DREAMS OF MOVING TO REAL WHEN REAL ARE STUCK FOR A FIGHTER NOT A PLAYER IE HE`S OFF WHEN HE GETS THE CALL IF EVER .

  17. ANTIONAN – Naughton is a rb by the way

AND JOHNY WAKE UP U MUPPET PALACIOS IS THE REASON WE HAVE STEAL IN THE TEAM!!!

TALK ABOUT BEING UNGRATEFUL EVER SINCE HE BEEN IN THE SPURS SQUAD I HAVENT SEEN NO1 DO WOT HE CAN DO FROM PREVIUS PLAYERS AT THE LANE!!! AND WOT HE DOES IS CLASS AND THE REASON HES GOT SO MANY YELLOWS IS BECAUSE HES GOT ALOT HEART TO WIN THAT BALL!!! UNLIKE PREVIUS PLAYERS WHO DIDNT EVEN TRY TO BLOCK A SHOT!!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GROW UP AND LEAVE SARGENT WILSON ALONE LIKE HE AINT GOT ENOUGH PROBS IN HIS LIFE ALREADY WITH FAMILY DEATH AND STILL DOES EVERYTHINK HE CAN FOR THE TEAM!!! HE HAS TO GET HATERS TOO!!!
CALL YOURSELF A SPURS FAN MORE LIKE U LIKE IT UP DA ARSE SO GO DO1 U SMUCK

AND THAT GOES EVERY WILSON HATER HERE!!! COYSSSSS

  18. Spurs Fanatick This I do know but when Walker came into the Sheffield United side Naughton moved to LB where he did very well.
I have cried out for a Mackay clone for near 30+ yrs and the best we had was Roberts who is about as good as Palacios is now. As you have never seen better than Palacios at WHL how can you wrap him so?
If you had seen Mackay you wouldkknow why I find Palacios good but NOT great. Just because a cork stops a leak it doesn't mean that the leak is sealed permanently. He has shown us what we have lacked but we can expect better and he was just coasting not a few matches back or did you miss that?

  19. get rid of o'hara, jenas and bring in diara he can even play right back which will be good for us sell hutton and bentley and give dos santos a go he is a fantastic player ive seen play for barcelona so many time and also sell tarabat my ass he is going to be the new zidane
