Tottenham locked in contract stalemate with top player

Reports suggest that Tottenham have reached a stalemate in their efforts to tie Christian Eriksen down to a new long-term deal.

This summer has seen the likes of Winks, Sanchez and Kane all sign new bumper contracts, but negotiating with the great Dane seems to be a little trickier for Spurs.

The Daily Mail have suggested that Eriksen wants to be paid on a par with star man Harry Kane, a figure that they quote at £300,000 a week pls bonuses.

Captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is also said to be on huge money, despite his drink driving charges earlier this week.

It seems fair enough that Eriksen would want to be treated on the same level as two of Tottenham’s other most influential stars.

Spurs signed Eriksen for just £11m from Ajax in 2013, but the Danish international’s contract is now down to its final two years.

Tottenham will want to get a new deal signed as soon as possible, or face having Eriksen enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season, something that would dramatically decrease his value.

Should Tottenham pay the man the money he wants?
