Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a new central midfielder this January, as it appears Pochettino and Levy are prioritising that as their number one focus.

This comes after Mousa Dembele looks set to move to China, after an offer of £9m from Super League club Beijing Sinobo Guoan was accepted by Tottenham (Sky Sports).

Spurs must now replace the talented Belgian midfielder, a player who has been at the forefront of Pochettino’s Tottenham transformation.

They are certainly big shoes to fill, but Tottenham are now looking at Borussia Monchengladbach centre mid Denis Zakaria to do just that (Sky Sports).

Tottenham have been tracking the player for some time, continuing to do so after he swapped Switzerland for Germany.

Pochettino is understood to have asked for regular updates on the 22-year-old during his time at Young Boys.

Could this be the man to replace Dembele?

Spurs are also said to be keen on Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch (Sky Sports).
