It has been revealed whether Tottenham Hotspur could pull a surprise deal for Maghnes Akliouche out of the hat in the final hours of the transfer window.
Most Spurs fans are disappointed that Conor Gallagher and Souza have been the only two first-team additions so far in January.
Over the past few days, reports have suggested that Tottenham could still complete a late deal for Maghnes Akliouche, although they have to pay a premium for the Frenchman.
Earlier today, The Independent’s Miguel Delaney reported that Spurs are still exploring a deal for Akliouche, but he revealed that one factor makes the move difficult.

Maghnes Akliouche is not expected to be a Tottenham player
Delaney explained that Monaco are unwilling to let the 23-year-old leave without signing a replacement, thus complicating the move for Spurs.
Now, Tom Barclay has taken to social media to rule out a late move for Akliouche for the Lilywhites.
He revealed that the Monaco star is viewed as an alternative number ten option to Xavi Simons in the summer rather than as a January target.
Barclay wrote on X: “Understand Tottenham will not be signing Magnes Akliouche. From what I’m led to believe, he was viewed as a secondary No 10 option to Xavi Simons in the summer. Yes, Spurs have been playing with two No 10s of late but I’m told they won’t be signing MA.”
Why Akliouche to Spurs rumours never made too much sense
It was a left-winger that Thomas Frank’s side needed this window, while Akilouche plays either on the right or as a number ten.
If Spurs are eyeing the Monaco man as an option for the number 10 role, a summer deal may not make too much sense either.
Once Tottenham have James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski back, they will have an embarrassment of riches in the attacking midfield role, with Xavi Simons and Lucas Bergvall also at their disposal.
