Tottenham man is now holding out for potential Villarreal move claims journalist

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Giovani Lo Celso’s proposed loan to Lyon is off and he is now hoping to secure a move to Villarreal instead.

Lo Celso has been listed as one of the players Tottenham are looking to offload ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, having slipped out of contention under Antonio Conte (Evening Standard).

His Spurs future was left up in the air when he was left out of the Spurs squad that suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea last Sunday, despite confirming on Instagram his absence was not related to injury.

L’Equipe have since revealed that Spurs reached an agreement to send the 25-year-old to Lyon until the end of the season, with the final decision up to the player himself.

However, it has emerged the French side are in advanced talks to re-sign Tanguy Ndombele two-and-a-half years after his sale to Spurs (Telefoot – Julien Maynard).

Now, Romano has further revealed that Lyon’s move for Ndombele comes after a ‘player decision’ caused a collapse in the deal for Lo Celso.

The Italian journalist also states the Argentina international is now hoping to make a move to Villarreal instead, who he revealed approached Spurs regarding a loan deal this week.

This is all a bit frantic now as it seemed set for Lo Celso to make the move to Lyon. Ultimately, it is up to what the player wants too, but he is lucky that they also have interest in signing Ndombele. Spurs should look to work with Villarreal to see a deal materialise over the next day.
