Tottenham man nominated for April’s PL Player of the Month award

Son Heung-min has been nominated for April’s Player of the Month award after the South Korean enjoyed a stellar month on the pitch.

April was not a particularly great month for Tottenham, with the Lilywhites winning just two of their four matches, losing at home to Brighton and playing out a 0-0 draw against Brentford.

Son scored in both of Tottenham’s wins in April against Newcastle and Aston Villa, netting a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over the Villans.

The South Korean’s purple patch continued at the start of this month against Leicester, netting a brace to help the Lilywhites to a 3-1 win.

Son is one of the eight players who have now been nominated for the Player of the Month award for April, alongside Burnley’s Nathan Collins, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus, Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara, and Brighton’s Leandro Trossard.

If Son wins the award, it would have been won by Tottenham players back-to-back, with Harry Kane taking home March’s award. You can vote for Son by clicking the link here.

Son would have had a great chance of winning the award had the clash against Leicester happened on April 30th rather than on May 1st. I expect the South Korean to now miss out and I believe Ronaldo is the overwhelming favourite to take home the prize.
