Tottenham man pictured with Lionel Messi despite not playing in World Cup

Giovani Lo Celso has taken to social media to post a picture of himself celebrating with Lionel Messi in the dressing room after Argentina’s World Cup win.

The World Cup final was an enthralling affair full of drama, with both Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe stepping up on the big stage. The two sides could not be separated after extra time but Argentina emerged winners in a penalty shootout.

Cristian Romero thus got his hands on the World Cup trophy while Hugo Lloris missed the chance to create history by becoming the first captain to lift the trophy twice in a row.

One man who did not feature for Argentina in Qatar is Lo Celso, with the on-loan Tottenham man picking up a hamstring injury at the end of October that ruled him out of the tournament (AS).

The 26-year-old had been a vital part of the Albiceleste set-up over the past couple of years, and he did not miss the opportunity to celebrate the World Cup triumph with his teammates.

Here’s what Lo Celso posted on Instagram after the game:

The importance of Lo Celso to the Argentine set-up cannot be overstated as the Tottenham man has provided most of their creativity from midfield over recent years. Thankfully for Lionel Scaloni’s men, Alexis Mac Allister stepped up and filled the void left by the Lo Celso during the tournament.
