Tottenham man scoops up third place at major awards ceremony

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane can now add third place in the 2018 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award to his already impressive CV.

Kane had been bookies favourite to scoop the main prize, but cyclist Geraint Thomas and F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton edged in front of him.

Harry ended the season with Tottenham as the second highest scorer in the Premier League.

He was then named England captain, and led his country to their best World Cup finish in 28 years, uniting the country in the process.

Kane finished the tournament as the golden boot winner, and, not stopping there, then helped his side into the semi finals of the Nations League.

It has been a stellar years for the Spurs striker, and he really was unlucky not to see his name engraved on that iconic SPOTY trophy.

Perhaps football rivalry got in the way of the England captain securing more votes.
