Tottenham man would be ‘delighted’ with new contract

Apart from the odd cup appearance, and five minute cameos off the bench, Tottenham fans haven’t been given much of a reason to cheer Fernando Llorente’s name, until recently that is.

Many supporters were worried, and many critics predicted that Tottenham would struggle for goals in the injury absence of both Harry Kane and Dele Alli, however, Spurs have yet to drop a Premier League point without them.

It has been around a month since Kane’s ankle injury against Man United, and in that time Spurs have bested Fulham, Watford, Newcastle, Leicester, and most recently recorded an impressive 3-0 win over German League leaders Borussia Dortmund.

While Heung Min Son has been massively impressive, Fernando Llorente has also stepped up to the plate in a big way.

In his last nine games, Llorente has been involved in nine goals, with six strikes of his own and three assists.

The former World Cup winner has popped up with some key goals too, including the icing on the cake against Dortmund on Wednesday.

Despite rumours of him potentially leaving last transfer window, Llorente has now claimed he would be delighted with a contract extension (Standard): “If I renew for a year, I am delighted, the project is exciting here at Tottenham, but we will be attentive to any call that may come.”
