Tottenham player’s father talks up possibility of exit over coming days

The father of Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has talked up the possibility of his son returning to Sevilla before the transfer window shuts at the end of this moth.

While it was reported a couple of weeks ago that Antonio Conte has decided to keep Gil as part of his plans beyond January (Estadio Deportivo), things appear to have changed after the North London club reinforced their forward line with the addition of Arnaut Danjuma.

Mucho Deporte claimed earlier this week that the winger is desperate to leave Spurs after the Dutchman’s arrival, and revealed that Sevilla had reignited their interest in the 21-year-od.

The publication added that the Spaniard fits the profile of an attacker that Jorge Sampaoli wants to add to his squad and stated that Los Nervionenses could make a loan offer with an option to buy him permanently.

The report also claimed that despite the Tottenham man attracting interest from Villarreal and Valencia, in addition to French and Italian clubs, a return to Sevilla was his preferred destination.

The winger’s father Alfonso Gil has now hinted that his son wants to return to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. He told Estadio Deportivo: “Seville is his home. Sampaoli has been (chasing) him for three years now.”

I can understand why Gil would be keen to leave on loan as the winger is not going to get many minutes under his belt unless there is another injury crisis at Spurs. The last thing he would want is to spend another six months on the bench, which would come as a further setback to his development.
