Tottenham Hotspur have been told that completing a deal for the dream midfield target will be far from easy in the summer.
Spurs have strengthened their midfield this window with the addition of Conor Gallagher, who has made an immediate impact at N17.
However, most Tottenham fans will admit that the midfield department is still lacking in terms of creativity and ball progression, with the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha and Pape Sarr not excelling in that department.
That is perhaps why reports indicate that Spurs view Adam Whaton as their ‘dream’ signing and are determined to spare no expense in bringing the Crystal Palace man through the door.

Tottenham warned regarding Adam Wharton pursuit
It was reported last week by TEAMtalk that Spurs are expected to face competition from Man United for Wharton in the summer.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that he expects Liverpool and Chelsea to also vie for the 21-year-old’s signature at the end of the season.
When asked about the Palace midfielder’s future, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “I don’t see Palace willing to let him go with everything else that’s been going on at the club. There’s no doubt there will be interest in Adam Wharton coming to the summer transfer window.
“Liverpool are admirers of him, Manchester United are also admirers of him and there’s interest from other Premier League teams and from abroad.
“Look, I’m sure Palace are readying themselves for interest and offers for Adam Wharton in the summer transfer window. They’ll face a real fight to keep hold of him in the summer window with the likes of Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea, plus others, probably all very much interested in the 21-year-old.”
Wharton may not be as expensive as initially thought
It was reported during last summer’s transfer window that Palace had slapped a £100m price tag on Wharton.
More recently, it has been claimed that the Tottenham target may be allowed to leave Selhurst Park for £65m plus add-ons at the end of this season.
However, one would think that Spurs would struggle to compete for the former Blackburn Rovers man’s signature unless they achieve Champions League qualification.
