Tottenham midfielder becomes latest squad member to undergo surgery as injuries mount

The bad news on the injury front keeps piling up for Tottenham, with another player now having undergone surgery following his recent injury during the international break.

Tottenham have nine first-team players out with injuries at the moment, including several key figures such as Cristian Romero, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Some players on the treatment table have not kicked a ball since Thomas Frank arrived through the door in the summer.

One of those is Yves Bissouma, who picked up an injury in his first competitive match of the season during this month’s international break.

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma posts an injury update

The injury happened during the second half of Mali’s win over Madagascar, and according to reports, Bissouma was in agonising pain, holding his left ankle, and had to be stretchered off the pitch.

The 28-year-old has now taken to social media to confirm that he has had surgery on his ankle following his latest setback.

The former Brighton man wrote on Instagram: “Everything went well. I thank God for everything that happens to me. Everything happens for a reason. I’m simply following my destiny. Grateful to God for His protection.”

Has Bissouma played his final game for Spurs?

The midfielder is in the final year of his contract, and it has been widely reported that Tottenham will look to offload Bissouma in January.

Clubs have reportedly been queuing up to land the Spurs midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.

However, the worry for Tottenham would be that this latest injury potentially scuppers their chances of getting a fee for Bissouma mid-season.
