Tottenham midfielder makes WhoScored’s Team of the Season so far

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the only Tottenham player to make it into WhoScored’s Team of the Season after the first seven Premier League matches.

Hojbjerg is a player who has tended to divide opinion among the Tottenham fan base since he arrived from Southampton back in 2020.

However, the Dane has been extremely consistent since the turn of the year, particularly since being paired with Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park.

The 27-year-old had had an impressive start to the season and was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September on the back of his recent performances.

Hojbjerg even received rave reviews from the Danish press for his performance during the international break, with the Tottenham man being awarded a perfect score by Danish publication BT for his display against world champions France last week.

WhoScored give players a rating out of ten for each of their performances, based on various statistics, and they have now revealed which players have scored the highest in terms of average match rating so far this season.

The Tottenham man is revealed to have the second highest average rating among all Premier League midfielders after Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne, with 7.52

Hojbjerg is always going to stand out as one of the best in any system that uses numbers, given the number of interceptions and tackles that the Dane makes in every match.

The 27-year-old has certainly demonstrated that he is very well suited to playing in Conte’s two-man midfield, given his engine and ability to contribute in all phases of play.
