Tottenham midfielder outlines what the team’s objectives are this season

The race for the top 4 spots in the Premier League has really heated up after recent results as Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are all vying for just two places.

With some tough fixtures to come for Tottenham, the Lilywhites have their work cut out to qualify for the next season’s Champions League after just picking up a single point from twelve available in their last four league outings.

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has said that the team will try to consolidate the third spot and go as far as possible in the Champions League this season.

While Sissoko admitted that there were no easy games in the Champions League in this stage of the competition, he said that the team is relishing the prospect of playing big games.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Frenchman said, “The objectives for the team now are to finish in the top three of the league and to try to secure the Champions League,” he said.

“It won’t be easy, but everything is in our own hands and if we win the remainder of our games, we know we will be in the top three for sure.

“At the same time, in the Champions League, we will try to go to the end if we can. We know it won’t be easy because we’ve still got a lot of good teams to play, but it’s about how we play our football.

“We love to play these kinds of games. We will wait to see the draw and then hopefully we will go through to the semi-finals.”

Sissoko also talked about the importance of the warm weather training camp that the club have had in Barcelona. He said that the break has helped the team relax their minds after the recent run of poor results.

He added, “It’s been a good week. It was good to come here, especially after the defeat against Southampton. We’ve had a good time all together, trying to refresh the mind and to have some nice time together.

“Everything has been good. Now most of the players will go off with their national teams and hopefully we can come back and be ready again to finish the season well.

“In the last few months we have played a lot of games and it was good to have a bit of rest and to spend some time all together.

“We obviously spend every day together at the training ground, but it’s good to all be away at the same time together and do different things and I think that will help us for the rest of the season.”
