Tottenham midfielder reveals what Poch said at halftime against Dortmund

Tottenham Hotspur have made the whole of Europe stand up and take after the thrashing Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The result means that the Lillywhites already have one foot in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

For the first 45 minutes of the game, it certainly didn’t look like it was going to end in a comprehensive victory for Spurs. The first half was quite cagey with both teams having very few chances and Dortmund looking a real threat on the counter with the pace of Jadon Sancho and Christian Pulisic.

However, Spurs upped the tempo in the second half and the away side simply couldn’t cope with Spurs’ pressing. Son Heung-Min gave Tottenham the lead soon after the interval while Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente both converted crosses late in the game to give Spurs a thumping win.

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks who was one of the team’s standout performers in the game has spoken about what Pochettino said to the team during the interval.

Speaking to Football.London, the 22-year-old said, “The manager said to us to be more aggressive and go out there and to get in them and not let them settle.

“That’s exactly what we did and it worked for us. To get the goal so early on was key for us. It really set the standard in the second half for what we wanted to do.”
