Tottenham Hotspur are pressing forward with an attempt to sign an exciting Argentine winger, but they have no time to waste in the race.
If Roberto De Zerbi does manage to keep Tottenham up this season, one would expect the Italian to prioritise strengthening the club’s attack ahead of his first full season in charge.
Spurs have lacked quality in the final third all season and have not been helped by their injury situation.
The Lilywhites have set their sights on a South American teenager, but they have now discovered that a deal for the player will not be straightforward this summer.

Tottenham have to beat four Premier League giants to land Ian Subiabre
River Plate starlet Ian Subiabre is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar, and the speculation linking the winger with a move to N17 has intensified over recent days.
It was claimed by El Intransigente earlier this week that Spurs are ready to accelerate their move for Subiabre, with the Lilywhites’ advances causing some panic at River Plate.
However, Goal.com revealed back last summer that plenty of Premier League clubs are plotting a move for the 19-year-old.
The outlet claimed that Chelsea had ‘made the first move’ to hold a meeting with the winger’s agent regarding a move to Stamford Bridge.
Additionally, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all expressed ‘strong interest’ in the youngster last summer.
That means that Tottenham may not have much time to waste if they want to win the race for the South American starlet. It appears a fair few Big Six rivals have had a jump start on the Lilywhites after making contact almost a year ago.
How much is Subiabre expected to cost?
According to reports from Argentina, although Subiabre has a €100m (£87.2m) release clause in his deal, he could be available for around €10-€15m (£8.7m-£13.1m).
However, the summer report from Goal suggested that although the River Plate man is still waiting for his international debut, he is on Lionel Scaloni’s radar.
The youngster has already been called up to train with the senior Argentina squad by Scaloni.
Tottenham and Subiabre’s other suitors may thus be wary of the winger’s value going up if he is potentially picked for the World Cup squad and impresses in North America for the world champions this summer.
