Tottenham Hotspur may have to act fast if they want to land a Serie A midfielder whom they have been tracking closely.

Tottenham’s midfield has been devoid of creativity all season, and the Lilywhites’ signing of Conor Gallagher in January has not addressed that problem.

Reports indicate that Spurs also tried to sign another creative midfielder in January, and one would expect the club to resume their search in the summer.

An Inter Milan midfielder has been a long-term target for Tottenham, but one of the Lilywhites’ relegation rivals are now pushing ahead with a move for the player.

Nottingham Forest stepping up pursuit of Tottenham target Davide Frattesi

The player in question is Davide Frattesi, who was also linked with a move to Spurs ahead of the January window in a swap deal involving Guglielmo Vicario.

A new report in Sports Boom has now revealed that Spurs have been watching the 26-year-old closely over recent years.

However, the outlet reveals that it is Nottingham Forest who are ‘stepping up their plans’ to land the Italy international ahead of the summer window.

Forest’s previous interest in Frattesi was ‘swatted away’ by Inter, but the Midlands side have not given up their pursuit of the midfielder.

Forest chiefs are said to be lining up an improved bid for the 26-year-old are now confident that they will get their man.

An insider told the outlet: “Davide is happy at Inter, but he wants to be playing regularly. The Premier League really appeals to him and Forest’s interest hasn’t gone unnoticed. If the opportunity is right, he would seriously consider a move. He knows he could have a bigger role in England.”

How much will Frattesi cost in the summer?

SportsBoom say that Brighton have also sent scouts to watch the Nerazzurri star in action this season.

Additionally, Frattesi is also on the radars of Roma, Juventus and Napoli, who are all monitoring the player’s situation at the San Siro closely.

The publication adds that Inter will not consider any offers that fall short of £30m for the Sassuolo man.
