Tottenham offered renewed hope of signing Antoine Semenyo amid Dominic Solanke hurdle

Tottenham could have a chance to sign Antoine Semenyo after a new development at Bournemouth, but he will cost more than Dominic Solanke.

It is no secret that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing a left winger. Club legend and captain Heung-min Son departed for the MLS in the summer, and a replacement has not yet been signed.

Spurs were heavily linked with Manchester City’s Savinho, but the Brazilian recently signed a new contract, committing his long-term future to the club.

Antoine Semenyo is another player who has gathered interest from Tottenham, and according to reports, Spurs will face competition to sign Semenyo.

Bournemouth identify Antoine Semenyo replacement amid Tottenham interest

TBR Football have revealed that Bournemouth are interested in Jaden Philogene, who currently plays for Ipswich Town.

The 23-year-old only joined the Tractor Boys at the beginning of this year, but he has quickly made an impression and already has five Championship goals to his name this season.

Bournemouth are not expecting to lose Semenyo in January, but he is almost certain to leave next summer, which explains their interest in Philogene.

Semenyo will not come cheap to Spurs

Semenyo has a release clause in the contract he signed last year, but it is reportedly unlikely this will be paid in January. Spurs could look to agree a deal next summer, but the goalscoring winger will come at a cost.

TBR chief correspondent Graeme Bailey said: “Bournemouth have confirmed Semenyo has a clause, but they are really insistent that he won’t be leaving in January.

“Nobody at this point knows if the clause can be activated in January or not, but I am led to believe it is more than than the Dominic Solanke clause, which was £65 million and is someone willing to do that in the January window? It is unlikely.

“Semenyo for his part is keeping quiet, but Bournemouth are making sure that the message is out there that Semenyo is not available.

“But off the back of the Semenyo interest, Tiago and his team are doing work on potential replacements but again they see that for the summer rather than January.

“Whilst I believe what Bournemouth are saying, within football, the noises are getting louder and some think he could move.”
