Tottenham officially announce permanent transfer of 23-year-old midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with AEL Limassol for the permanent transfer of winger Anthony Georgiou.

Georgiou joined the Tottenham academy in 2013 and came through the ranks to make his senior debut for the club in a Champions League clash against APOEL four years later.

However, that was the only competitive first-team appearance that the Cyprus international made during his time at Spurs.

The 23-year-old had loan spells at Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers last season but failed to make much of an impression at either club.

The youngster’s move to Limassol certainly did not come as a surprise with Football Insider reporting last week that Spurs had agreed on a fee for Georgiou with the Cypriot club.

The same publication then revealed a few days ago that the winger had successfully completed a medical.

Tottenham have now confirmed that Georgiou has officially departed the club after eight years in North London.

At 23 years of age, Georgiou needs to be playing regular football. This is an excellent move for him, with Limassol being one of the biggest clubs in his native country.
