Tottenham officially announce second new signing of the summer

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced that the club have completed the signing of Bryan Gil from Sevilla.

It was exclusively reported by Fabrizio Romano earlier this week that Spurs and Sevilla had agreed upon a player-plus-cash deal that would see the North London club hand over Erik Lamela and €25m in exchange for Gil.

The 20-year-old winger spent last season on loan at Eibar and managed 29 games, scoring four and assisting another four in all competitions (TransferMarkt).

Lamela, on the other hand, has spent the past eight years at Spurs after signing in 2013, although injury problems preventing him from ever really reaching his peak.

Gil has signed a Tottenham contract until 2026, although he will not yet link up for pre-season as he is a part of the Spain Olympics squad in Tokyo.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is an incredible piece of business from Spurs. Not only have they managed to move a player on and remove wages from the books, but they have also used that player as a chip to sign a bargain up-and-coming replacement.
